Y. Z. Ya'u argues  Africa must develope a framework that challenges globalization assumptions to better integrate itself into the globalizing world. To avoid the threat of imperialism, Africa must create an identity in the digital community to gain independence.

Summary

The onset of an information and technology-based global economy created a growing disparity in economic power between developed nations with access to such technology and developing nations with limited or no access. This has resulted in a technological imperialism in which Western nations scramble for the markets of less developed nations, the way they once fought for these nations' natural resources.
